Ellas Greek Dance Theatre was formed in 1985 by Charlie Kyriacou, who directed it until the group was dismantled in 1990. Anne Sirota was Assistant Director and the goal of the group was to document and perform dances as done in the villages of Greece.
The group performed at Greek festivals and other Greek functions, at the Music Center (Irwin Parnes' shows), private functions, schools, and a production called Ekdromi which was directed by Charlie Kyriacou, Athan Karras, and the Greek Heritage Society. Ekdromi was held at the UCLA Recreation Center and focused on the history of Greek immigrants to Southern California.
