The Threshing Floor, located at 112 N. Bradford Ave. in Placentia, California, was under the direction of Asimakis Asimakopoulos, who established the coffeehouse, gave it its name, was one of its major investors, and worked hard to try to make it a success. One of the original investors was Frank Verges, a political science professor at California State University in Fullerton. The Threshing Floor was a spinoff of the Intersection and the brochure and artwork was done by Rudy Dannes.
The Threshing Floor had a large dance group which Asimakis directed and which gave performances at weddings, colleges, universities, and the like. Rand Waltzman and Dennis Gura were assistant directors. Asimakis hired folk dance teachers from from the Intersection and elsewhere to teach Israeli, Greek, Danse Orientale, and international dance classes (including a children's folk dance class). Asimakis mainly taught Greek Taverna dances. Rand Waltzman, now a professor of computer science at the Royal Institute of Sweden, taught mostly Pontian Dances. Greek language classes were also offered. The problem with running a folk dance coffeehouse six days a week is that it really needs a full-time director and Asimakis was teaching college during the day. Finally tired of working hard, even on Mondays when the Threshing floor was not open, he closed down after just a couple of years.
