Prof. Anton Andonov is the Director for the department of choreography at the Academy for Music, Dance and Fine Art, while leading students along the path of professional dance art, supervising Ph.D. and master degree graduates. He is a member of numerous scientific committees, and dance competition judge boards, as well as a guest choreographer in ensembles across Bulgaria and a principe dancer with international concert repertoire.

Prof. Andonov work history includes:

• Academy for Music, Dance and Fine Art, Plovdiv | Director for Department of Choreography 2000 to present.


• Folkloric Ensemble "Sunny Beach", Nessebar, Bulgaria | Choreographer 1997 to present.


• Folkloric Ensemble "Trakia", Plovdiv, Bulgaria | Soloist Principle dancer 1997 to present.

His notable projects include:

• Ensemble "Trakia" – choreographer of dances from folkloric regions of Shop and Thrace.


• Ensemble "Sunny Beach" – choreographer.


• Guest choreographer at National Folk Art School city of Kotel, youth ensembles in Karlovo, Peschtera, and Baltchik.


• "Kapanski Ensemble for music and dance," city of Razgrad – choreographer "Dance from Thrace," "Sheppard and Yuda maiden."


• National school for folkloric art (city of Sofia) – choreographer in dances for "Dances in Sofia," "Fancy city girls from Plovdiv," "Festivity dances from Thrace," "Wedding dances from Haskovo," "Danube Fairy tale from Danube River," "Dance impression from Dobrudzha."


• Principle soloist at ensemble "Trakia" in dances "Kudi," "Koledari," "Dobrudzha," "St. George festivity," "Dances from Thrace," "Mori dyulber Sevdo," "Ayde, aide libe," "Man’s dance from Thrace," "Wedding dances from south Bulgaria."


• University lecture classes –"Classical repertoire and heritage of Bulgarian folk dance," "Theory of Bulgarian folk choreography," "Stage adaptation of Bulgarian traditional folklore dance," "Bulgarian folk dance practice," "Traditional exercise."


• Field ethnochoreology research in South–West Bulgaria (2012), North–East Bulgaria (2015), Thrace (2014–2016).


• Authored diverse lecture materials for folk dance practice in numerous programs at regional and national level.


• Taught folk dances in United States, Holland, Japan, Sweden, France, Russia, Poland, Germany, Serbia, Greece, Ukraine, and China.
