Mildred Buhler was an exciting square dance caller and taught international folk dancing.

She helped in the planning of the first California Statewide Folk Dance Festival held in Ojai in 1946.

She called squares at the 1948 California Statewide held in Fresno and helped design the cover for the 1949 Statewide.

Mildred was the Guest of Honor at the Whirlaways square dance club's opening evening in 1954 and called a square.

She was on the Research and Standardization Committee of the Folk Dance Federation of California, Inc.

Mildred taught at the California College of the Pacific Folk Dance Camp (now Stockton Folk Dance Camp).

Dances Mildred taught include Cielito Lindo, Nights of Gladness, and Varsouvienne Quadrille.
