Richard Hladio 1983 Richard "Dick" Hladio from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is of Ukrainian parentage, and teaches Ukrainian and Yugoslav dances.

Dick studied dancing since his Junior Tamburitza days in Amberg, Pennsylvania. He then received a scholarship for Duquesne University and was a part of the performing group, the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, for five years. He also studied with Mitka Manov and Penka Rizova who came from Bulgaria to teach the Tammies.

Dick choreographed several numbers, including Ukrainian Suites, for the Duquesne University Tamburitzans and is, himself, a former Tamburitzan. He also played guitar and cymbaly for their performances.

While in Bulgaria, Dick studied again with Mitka Manov, Zdrava Dimov, and Kiril Stepanov, director of the noted Pirin Ensemble.

As the Rev. Hladio, he is using his formidable talents to shepherd the parish of St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Hamilton, Ontario.
