Moshe Idan was born in Lithuania, and immigrated to Israel in 1971. Today he lives in Haifa, Israel, and is a Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
Moshe participates in running and teaching a long standing Balkan dance class, Balkanitsa, in Haifa, Israel. Balkanitsa is a group of recreational folk dancers open to all from Haifa and the North of Israel. It was established in 1984 and meets weekly to dance Balkan folk dances. It is a non-profit organization and operates on a voluntary basis.
He spent a two year sabbatical in UCLA in 2007-2009, regularly attending Sherry Conchran's Wednesday night LIFE Balkan class. During that time he taught several Bulgarian and Romanian dances in Sherry's class as well as in Saturday night Cafe AMAN and Tuesday night Santa Monica Gypsies.
