Agis Tsakalatos, instructor for the Lykeion ton Ellinidon Kalamata, was born in 1973 in Kalamata, Messinia. He became a dancer for the Lykeion at the age of thirteen and has been a dance instructor there since 1994. He also leads the dance troupe in the town of Finikounda in Messinia.

As a member of the troupe, he has performed in Cyprus, Turkey, Italy, Morocco, Egypt, Germany, Sweden, Hungary, Austria and more, including a performance for Ecumenical Patriach Bartholomew. He also performed in the Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004
