David Vinski

David Vinski has been dancing since 1958 when he first learned Malo kolo at Croatian Fraternal Union lodge 4 in Pittsburgh. This early interest in his heritage led to a scholarship with the Duquesne University Tamburitzans.

David Vinski has long had a special interest in folklore, customs, music, and dance. He is well known throughout the U.S. and Canada for his master classes and workshops in Balkan folk dance. He received an award in choreography from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and has been a guest choreographer for the Duquesne University Tamburitzans, Dear Friends, Children's Festival Chorus, Pittsburgh International Folk Theatre, and Penn State International Ensemble. He has taught at the Chicago Fall Ball, International Folk Dance Camp, Kentucky Dance Institute, Oglebay Dance Camp, Oquaga Annual Weekend, Pinewoods Dance Camp, and Mainewoods Dance Camp, of which he is a past board member.

He was recruited to Point Park College in 1976 by Nicolas Petrov as a guest choreographer in folk dance. Since then, he has been Lecturer in Dance, Production Coordinator for Dance, Production Manager of the American Dance Ensemble, Assistant Director of Community Classes, Assistant to the Managing Director, Assistant Director of Playhouse Jr., Theatre Manager, and finally Managing Producer. David served as choreographer, director, and writer for many Playhouse Jr. productions. Currently he is Managing Director of the Pittsburgh Playhouse, a laboratory for the Conservatory of Performing Arts of Point Park University.

David has a B.A. from Duquesne University.
